Mud Run 2008

This race officially ended our season of running. We have done 7 races total since January, but this race was the best. How could 3 boys turn down an opportunity to be covered in mud? Shawn surprised us all by getting 3rd place out of 400 people!

All the kids were really into this field trip. We have Black berries, rasberries, bluberries, ollaliberries (sp?)
and stained hands for days. Bebe did not have a single berry in her bag that day. She just kept eating off the vines!
Silas on the other hand picked everything that day...his bag was filled with unripe, green berries! My favorite were the blue berries. We've put them in muffins, frozen a few and eaten more than enough this week.

Church BBQ

Shawn and I had a BBQ for our church family today! I was to busy to take any pictures so I put a picture of our website logo. I love these people and truly feel like many of them are family. It was a very informal gathering lasting only 5 hours, but I was so encouraged by many of the conversations I had. The pool was a high light for my kids. I wonder when they will realize how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends. The biggest highlight for me was talking to a couple I've known for a long time. They've been at Calvary for 19 years. He struggled with alcohol for a long time and told us his story of God healing him from this 17 years ago. His healing started with a man from church consistently calling him. He felt loved and cared for by someone at church and this started the events that led to him giving his addiction over to God. Shawn and I both were moved by this man's story and the challenge to "help" people in their journey by a simple phone call to check in.
